Environmental Focus Will Undermine Sector Development

On February 4, Canada's Prime Minister Justin Trudeau met with Premier Rachel Notley of Alberta to discuss the state of the prov- ince's economy and formulate a strategy to revive growth. Given the importance of the extractive sector to the Albertan economy, the federal government has committed up to CAD250mn for necessary infrastructure to increase its long-term competitiveness.
