Pre-entry treatment delivers strong advantages

Feeder cattle receiving the Feeder Guard two-shot pre-induction protocol produced a commercially significant advantage in feedlot performance, morbidity/mortality rates and some carcase characteristics, a study has found. Among the key findings, application of a Feeder Guard two-shot protocol delivered a 12 kilogram advantage in liveweight across large numbers of cattle fed in three feedlots and an 0.3% improvement in dressing percentage. Mortality and morbidity rates declined by about one-half to one third, respectively.
