Results of a 3-year study of O. nubilalis flight and oviposition in accordance with maize development in the Belgorod province, Russia, are presented. The conjunction of the development of O. nubilalis and maize was manifested by the mass oviposition on the early-ripe and midearly-ripe forms of maize plants to the paniculation-silking stages of their development. O. nubilalis adults formed aggregations, preferably in weed vegetation near maize fields where favourable microclimatic conditions were maintained. The proportion of the egg mass laid at different plant stages was connected to changes in development as influenced by weather conditions. Resistant maize plants were non-preferred for oviposition by O. nubilalis.
