Metaullics, the Dutch company specialised in systems for molten metal processing, working in partnership with the aluminium industry and leading ceramic technologists, has applied Tensor Technology, a new technology to create a new generation of liquid metal pumps. Tensor Technology allows new post designs. Posts are constructed from hollow ceramic tubes supported and reinforced by a central steel rod. The tubes are highly resistant to oxidation and are stronger than graphite. The new pump bearings have a higher density than standard bearings so they wear longer and resist attack from the molten metal. This results in extended service lifetimes.
