Principles of selecting the silica-containing binder in the technology of refractory production are considered. The effect of the heat treatment temperature on the SiO{sub}2-gel crystallization is analyzed. Ethylsilicate binders are shownadvantageous compared to other silica-containing binders due to the fact that SiO{sub}2-gel obtained from ethylsilicate ETS-32 retains the amorphous state upon heating up to 1273 K.
