The HYPR project has studied the combinedcycle engine (CCE) composed of a turbojet engine whichcan operate from take-off to Mach 3 and a ramjet enginewhich can operate over Mach 2.5 up to Mach 5. The modetransition between turbojet engine and ramjet engineoperation is the main technical issue in the operationof the CCE. The sub-scale CCE demonstrator was designedand manufactured to test the CCE system. The CCEdemonstrator was tested in GE's altitude test Dec.1998to Mar.1999. The expected operation of the CCE system was successfully achieved.
