摘要

Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus Aureus (MRSA) is known to cause severe infectious diseases in patients with weakened immune systems, such as elderly people, immature infants, or postoperative patients.On the other hand, lactic acid bacteria are possibly related to many kinds of disease control beyond simple intestinal regulation ; for example, maintenance of homeostasis in the immune system, enhancement of cell-mediated immunity, etc. In addition, since the immunostimulating effects of lactic acid bacteria are confirmed not only in viable forms but even in dead forms, clinical applications are also expected.In this report, heat-killed Enterococcus faecalis (hereafter, E. faecalis) was administered to MRSA infected mice, and then dose dependence against MRSA infection and efficacy of prevention/treatment in several dosing periods were assessed based on measurements of survival rate and weight loss.
