Pyothorax-associated Lymphoma (PAL) that First Manifestation was Transverse Spinal Cord Symptoms

Cases of malignant lymphoma associated with old tuberculous pyothorax were reported mainly in Japan. We encountered a patient with pyothorax-associated lymphoma (PAL) that started with transverse spinal cord symptoms. The patient was a 70-year-old male, who visited the hospital complaining of respiratory distress. The patient was diagnosed as having tuberculous pleurisy at the age of 31and was followed for chronic pyothorax of the right lung since he was 55 years old. He had transverse spinal cord symptoms since October 20XX. Chest CT identified mass lesions combined with lymph nodes in S2, S6， and S10 in the right lung and in S6 in the left lung. Based on the biopsy, the patient was diagnosed as having non-Hodgkin's lymphoma diffuse large B cell type. CHOP therapy was started but the patient died on the 9 th day after admission. PAL is
