In any engineering sector, innovation and long-term sus-tainability are the major concerns of chief engineers who have the privilege and the tremendous responsibility of finding a compromise between design solutions and project budgets. Oftentimes, innovation and sustain-ability go hand-in-hand; as an example, we can consider the hybrid car where the ingenious idea, based on the simple concept of the recovery of momentum of any moving mass, has allowed unimaginable fuel savings. In this case innovation resulted in long-term sustainability.
