A new method and a portable device for remote detection of alpha-radioactivity sources

Investigation results of remote registration of alpha-radiation in air are presented. Negative ions from alpha-particle trace were recorded by plane-parallel Geiger counter open to air. Alpha-particles were recorded from the distance of 65 m with30% efficiency. The efficiencies of ion transportation by slipstream and by electric field are compared.
