摘要

In this technical report, main parts of published IEEE transaction paper [1] entitled "Open-end Microstrip Line Terminations Using Lossy Grayscale Inkjet Printing" has been re-introduced as the IEEE Microwave Theory and Techniques Society Japan Young Engineer Award 2018 from IEEE Japan-Chapter. The novel 2-D gray-scale inkjet printed Microstrip Line (MSL) terminations are presented in this work. The proposed open-end type MSL termination is constructed of a lossy trace printed on paper and placed on a typical dielectric substrate with back ground. Optimal design guidelines are also discussed for attaining best absorption band given ink resistivity and termination size. Both fixed width line is presented, experimentally showing well absorption levels over a wide bandwidth. These simple to fabricate structures may find applications in scenarios were low-cost wideband planar terminations are needed.
