Up to now, maternal allergic health outcomes represent the most reliable markers for later allergy of neonates, reflecting the strong genetic background and the respective maternal immunological environment in which the concept is embedded. Under the sign of the worldwide atopic epidemic with growing incidences even in nonrisk families, the challenge arises how to predict the risk of allergy development in these newborns.
