Role of Biodiesel in Indian Renewable Energy

The world is confronted with the twin crises offossil fuel reduction and environmental degradation. The randomextraction and consumption of fossil fuels have led to areduction in petroleumreserves. Alternative fuels, energy conservationand management, energy efficiency, and environmentalprotection have become important in recent years.Biodiesel is a one of an alternative, which is being used inlarge quantities in transport, agriculture, industrial, commercial,and domestic sectors. Biodiesel obtained from vegetableoils has been considered a promising option. In the presentstudy, a detailed comparison has been made of the variousprocesses of manufacture of biodiesel with latest feedstocks.The recent market of biodiesel with respect to Indian economyhas also been presented in the present work.
