Implementation of MAPOS OC-48c PCI card, and its evaluation

摘要

Ultra high-speed network interfaces have been required for servers in backbone networks and Contents Delivery Network to match the increase in line speed of access networks such as FTTH. To meet such a requirement, we have proposed a link-layer protocol MAPOS (Multiple Access Protocol over SONET/SDH), and have been evaluating it by using the MAPOS compliant products (MAPOS switch, Network interface cards). In this paper, we show that the large MTU size, which is one of the important features of MAPOS, is effective to achieve high performance through the evaluation of newly developed MAPOS OC-48c PCI card using a network benchmark program. Furthermore, we show that the reduction of the interruption has a great effect on the result of the benchmarking, and that it is essential to achieve the highest throughput of this Card.
