摘要

The two-dimensional harmonic oscillator has a conserved angular momentum. When it is in thermal equilibrium at finite temperature it can, thus be ascribed a chemical potential. We find the dependence of the internal energy on the average angular momentum as a function of temperature. It is most instructive to perform the calculation in the path integral formalism for motion in imaginary time. This simple system is directly applicable to the description of a free gas of relativistic,, charged bosons at finite temperature and charge density.
