Lithium cell safety

摘要

Lithium ion cells are widely used for such portable equipment as telephones, because of their high energy density. In this situation, the improvement of the cell safety is needed for wider application and easy use. The mechanism of causing them to be unsafe is related with the balance of heat generation rate in the cell and dissipation to outside of the cell. The cell becomes safer when the heat generation rate in the cell is lower. Material studies to decrease the heat generation were briefly explained.
