摘要

We have developed a high power pasted positive electrode for a Ni/MH battery for HEV use in place of the sintered type one. The effects of the pore size, Ni quantity and Co additives for the new positive electrodes were first investigated. Then, the new MH electrodes were designed to achieve a higher power performance. We achieved a good low temperature characteristics by using a small particle size of the MH alloy. We also optimized a new welding method to reduce the cell impedance. A new thin separator made of small diameter fiber was found possible to make the electrode gap smaller. As the result of this study, we have developed a tough cylindrical Ni/MH battery with an over 800W/kg power density.
