The features of chloroplast structure in early-spring vegetating ephemeroids (with special reference to Corydalis bracteata, Fumariaceae).

Mesophyll chloroplast structure was compared in the early-spring ephemeral C. bracteata and the summer species C. ochotensis. Chloroplasts of C. bracteata have fewer granal thylakoids and lower ratios of grana and stroma volume densities than chloroplasts of C. ochotensis. When C. bracteata was transferred from the garden to a greenhouse its chloroplasts acquired a more shade type of structure.
