摘要

Vetiver (Vetiveria zizanioides Nash) is a tropical grass that has properties of preventing soil erosion and soil surface runoff, and increasing the underground moisture. This grass can survive in many soil types, regardless of fertility, and can growin a wide range of climates. The deeply penetrating root system can effectively fix the soil. Truong reported that the mature plants were tolerant to mild salt stress; however, this has not yet been shown in vitro. Tissue culture techniques are now commonly employed to improve the salt tolerace of plants including tobacco, rice and alfalfa. This work was conducted to induce in vetiver a tolerance to higher salty stress using tissue culture techniques.
