Leaf photosynthesis ability is one of the most important factors determining the yield of rice. Higher leaf photosynthesis rate can contribute to higher yield, especially at heading and maturity stages. Chlorophyll (Chi) content positively correlateswith photosynthesis rate. QTLs for this trait have been identified in rice. However, there is few study for the alteration of leaf chlorophyll content during maturity stage in rice. In this study, the authors conducted a genetic analysis for the temporal leaf chlorophyll content by measuring Chi content at 3 different maturity stages of rice and at two different nitrogen (N) application levels by using recombinant inbred lines (RILs).
