The physical and qualitative effects were analyzed which can accompany processes of solidification of continuously cast billet at superposition of electromagnetic action. The importance of electromagnetic agitation was considered for improvement of the metal motion conditions in the mould, control of transition process 《columnar-equiaxed structure》as well as relative to suppression of defects of the shrinkage and segregation nature. The limiting scopes were denoted for the control of processes of continuously cast billet solidification by means of electromagnetic agitation.
