Investigations were carried out on the influence of features of the burden charging with non-tapered chute charging device on the forming of the wear character and ash and soot forming on the masonry surface in the blast furnace with a volume of 5500 cu.m. Recommendations as to increase of efficiency of the lining state diagnostics for the elements of the blast furnace shape were worked out.
