摘要

This article deals with the design of a novel step impedance microstrip fed modified octagonal shape, ultra wideband antenna (UWB) to detect breast tumors. The fabricated antenna is simulated and measured. The result shows the antenna impedance bandwidth (S-11 < -10 dB) and it can be operated from 3.0-15 GHz with VSWR <= 2. Radiation patterns of the E and H plane are found to be unwavering over UWB frequency range. The dimension of the designed portable antenna 27 mm x 29 mm x 1.6 mm is fabricated with relative permittivity of 4.4 in FR-4 epoxy dielectric substrate fed by a step impedance microstrip line. A 3-D breast model is designed with 60 mm radius and simulated Specific Absorption Rate (SAR) values are tabulated for skin, fatty cell, glandular tissue and tumor.
