Cement Production Technology for Creation of Recycling-oriented Society

The Japanese cement industry has strengthened the efforts for practical utilization of wastes and the movement toward the creation of a recycling-oriented society by setting up a nonbinding target "Let's increase the unit consumption of the wastes to 400 kg/ t by 2010 financial year." It is necessary to increase the level of stable treatment technology in the cement manufacturing process, not only for chlorine but also for sulfur and heavy metals, in order to effectively increase use various wastes From this point of view, it is not too much to say that "Technology of washing dechlorination for high chlorine containing powder extracted from chlorine bypass equipment and salt recovery" and "coating preventive system (TCS system)" show one of the future directions. Waste treatment technology in cement plant is centered on an established detoxification treatment technology inside the cement plant (ash washing method) and a manufacturing method for novel cement possessing using wastes as raw materials (eco-cement). However, in addition to these, thought should be given to the practical utilization of wastes as resources through safe treatment of the wastes both inside and outside the cement plant from diversified and renewed viewpoints, and new treatment methods to produce products other than cement. Our company has strong intentions to put our efforts into development of these technologies to promote environmental business while meeting society's request for environmental conservation.
