Water productivity is a measure of economic livelihood or biophysical output derived from the use of unit quantity of water. It is expressed in terms of equivalent grain production kg per m3 or kg per cm depth of water used. Paddy equivalent water productivity (PEWP) of seventeen years old D.sissoo-paddy agri-silviculture system under four pruning treatments was evaluated in central India. Four treatments viz. no pruning, 0% (Pq), light pruning, 25% (P2S), moderate pruning, 50% (P50) and high pruning, 75% (P75) were taken. Findings show significant effect of pruning on water productivity. The study revealed that managed agroforestry (P25, P50 and P7S) is superior to unmanaged agroforestry (Pq). Mean water productivity of managed agro forestry was NOkg a~(-1) cm~(-1)1 whereas it was only 95 kg ha' cm~(-1) for unmanaged agroforestry. PEWP of P_(25) (142 kg ha~(-1) cm~(-1)) and P_(50) (147 kg ha~(-1) cm~(-1)1) were at par but significantly superior to P0 (95 kg a~(-1) cm~(-1)). PEWP ofP7}(131 kg ha~(-1) cm~(-1)) was at par with P_(25) and P_(50).
