摘要

Sacred groves comprise small patches of forest or natural vegetation from a few trees to several acres of forests that are dedicated to local deities. These are protected by local communities because of their beliefs and traditional rituals through generations. In some sacred groves, even dry foliage and fallen fruits are not touched People believe that any kind of disturbance will affect the local deity causing harm to them. Polathala Sacred Grove is one of the important sacred groves in Kadapa district of Andhra Pradesh. The present paper deals with 118 traditional medicinal plants belonging to 65 families.
