The scope of this article precludes a detailed account of the many achievements and the astonishing inventiveness of American Dr. George Robert Stibitz (1904-1995). Instead we have chosen to highlight selected events from his working and family life that we think will help the reader get an idea of the extraordinary man behind the almost unknown hut truly innovative Stibitz (Film) slide rule.
