摘要

Detecting the freshness of fruits is an important aspect in industries for grading and sorting the fruits before packaging for transportation. In this present project the freshness is determined on the basis of skin colour of the fruits. As the fruit ages and ripens the colour shade of the skin changes. This change is compared with a standard image of a fresh fruit and present quality of the fruits are determined. The advantage of this system is that the MATLAB functions are efficient and yields the same results when used on different systems. The image of the fruits is taken from the camera and fed to MATLAB which evaluates the intensity and colour on the basis of gray scale level. The fruit is graded based on the comparison with standard result. The developed code can differentiate between a banana and a lemon on the basis of their shape.
