Detection of Tapioca(Manihot Utilissima Linn)Extract in Milk

摘要

The aim of the present work is to find out methods for detection of adulteration adopted by unscrupulous vendors engaged in the business of dairying.Milk in this region is suspected to be sold with the addition of tapioca extract and it goes undetected by the routine Starch-Iodine reaction as in vitro digestion readily hydrolyses~1 more than 50% tapioca starch.In the present work,a simple paper chromatographic technique,to identify the presence of tapioca(Manihot utilissima Linn.)in milk,is reported.
