摘要

Tobramycin (TM) is an aminoglycoside antibiotic,with an extended spectrum of activity against gram negative and aerobic bacilli.It is chemically known as 0,3-amino-3-deoxy-alpha-D-glucopyranosyl [l->6]-o-[2,6-diamino-2,3,6-trideoxy-alpha-D-ribohexoglucopyranosyl]]-2-deoxy-L-streptamine.It is officially described in Indian pharmacopoeia.A survey of literature revealed that only two visible spectrophotometric methods have been reported but these have low sensitivity.Other methods included HPLC.In this paper presented two procedures for estimation of TM using chloranilic acid (3,6-dichloro-2,5-dihydroxy benzoquinone) and chloranil.Both the methods involve formation of colored charge-transfer complexes.The formation of outer complexes or electron donor-acceptor (EDA) complexes between quinones and amines is well known.This famous reaction forms the basis for both the methods.
