摘要

Wind data were measured at two levels at 10 m and 25 m, which is the standard height for wind measurement. The wind speed measurement mast has been installed at MPSTEP, MANIT, Bhopal, India, with the geographical coordinates of 23° 20'N and 77° 40'E. The data on wind speed and direction were captured using a data logger for one year from July 2004 to June 2005. Using the power law index determined with the basic recorded data, wind speed was extrapolated to 50m, 70m, 90m, 120m and 150m elevation at the same location. It is seen that the wind power density at higher elevations is adequate for the installation of modern wind turbines to extract economically viable electric energy.
