MINERAL OIL PRODUCTION AND MARKETING IN TURKEY

In this study, the mineral oil production and consumption in Turkey between 2000-2011 were examined and discussed. There are many kinds of mineral oil which are produced and consumed in Turkey. These are produced for use in the industries of automobile, hydraulic, textile, metal working and in protective aims. While the production of mineral oil in 2010 was nearly 570 000 t, the consumption was 415 000 t. The sectorial consumption of produced oil as 555 000 t in 2011 were automobile, industrial, marine and greases respectively as 53%-37%-5% and 5%. On the other hand, because of the global economical crises, the market and consumption of mineral oils was nearly static, while the production was increased gradually from 2006 to 2011. Parallel to the economical deceleration in 2009's Turkey, the production and consumption of the mineral oil were also slowing down to the level 2008. In 2010, the production and consumption were increased again because of tangential passing of the global depression from Turkey.
