An innovative mix proportioning with recycled concrete coarse aggregate

India is moving at a great pace towards building modern concrete infrastructures replacing the old ones and as a result, on one hand, there is generation of huge concrete waste to be disposed off and on the other hand, there is a surge in the demand on natural rock resources for aggregates which constitute the bulk of concrete. With natural rock resources depleting fast, the concrete industry is looking for sustainable yet effective substitutes. In this context, if we could recycle the concrete wastes to produce aggregates for fresh concrete, we can put concrete back into concrete which will be a great relief to the environment. The suitability of Recycled Concrete Coarse Aggregate (RCA) produced by recycling and sieving crushed concrete waste for reuse as coarse aggregate in fresh concrete has been examined by researchers in different ways over the past few decades with partial success.
