The target article (Gesundheit et al. 2009) tried to address difficult and agonizing bioethical questions that clinicians in our day have unfortunately been forced to confront. In a world of violence, war, and increasing terrorism, painful questions have arisen for medical practitioners and in general for those societies, which try to save and protect human life while others are trying to destroy and kill.
