摘要

I want to start by thanking and congratulating all the people who have made possible this very successful halfcentury of JQT, including the editor-in-chief for initiating this celebration issue. I also want to congratulate W. Jensen, D. Montgomery, F. Tsung, and G. Vining for the excellent review of the journal's past and insightful look to its future. I am grateful to them for the opportunity to participate; I feel undeservedly honored.
