First report of Emphasis Type='Italic'>Fusarium proliferatum/Emphasis> associated with Emphasis Type='Italic'>Allium fistulosum/Emphasis> L. in Italy

Abstract In 2016, symptoms of stunted growth with internal violet basal stem rot were detected in several seed production plots of Welsh onion or Japanese bunching onion ( Allium fistulosum ) in Italy. Morphological and molecular identifications confirmed the isolation of Fusarium proliferatum . The pathogenicity was verified with Koch’s postulates checked. To our knowledge, this is the first report of F. proliferatum as a pathogen of A. fistulosum in Italy.
