Identification and Characterization of Antibacterial Bioactive Compounds From An Edible Gastroid Mushroom Phellorinia herculeana

Phellorinia herculeana (Pers.) Kreisel commonly known as Maru Khumbhi is an important edible gastroid mushroom naturally occurring at high temperatures and moderate relative humidity in arid and semi arid regions of India (Gehlot and Singh, 2015a; Gehlot et al 2016). It grows individually or in groups after one or two good spell of rains during monsoon season (Gehlot and Singh, 2015b) in slightly alkaline sandy and sandy loam soils having poor water holding capacity. It is hunted by the rural folk, since centuries due to its nutritional and medicinal values (Solanki et al 2016).
