Prospect of Middle Ordovician Yanxi formation black shale in South Hunan province

Black shale is widely distributed in Central Hunan. However, due to low exploration level and lack of petroleum geological data, it lacks complete evaluation.Based on the comprehensive investigation and analysis of the geological characteristics of Yanxi formation (O2) and the sedimentary evolution of Ordovician in this area, it is found that the black shale of O2 is characterized by great thickness (from 40 m to 135 m) and high level of organic carbon (from 0.87% to 6.20 %).
