Use of Lydium-KLP in the disease prevention in piglets during weaning

In studies of 580 healthy piglets aged 6 weeks and weighing 12 kg, 290 animals were injected i.m. with Lydium-KLP (0.02 lysozyme dimer/kg, group E) at weaning. 290 piglets were controls (group C) kept under the same environmental and nutritional conditions. Average daily weight gain and feed consumption was 473.0 and 418 g, 3.08 and 3.46 kg feed/kg weight gain in groups E and C respectively 4 weeks after weaning. Morbidity and mortality in group C were 32.43 and 5.7% respectively. 10.4% of animalsin group II had diarrhoea but none died. It was concluded that injection of Lydium-KLP decreases losses in the postweaning period in pigs.
