In this paper, the Geant4 Monte Carlo simulation is proposed to evaluate the response of the ~(10)B doped thermal neutron sensitive microchannel plate (nMCP). The detection efficiency and the spatial resolution of the nMCP in various geometrical configurations are simulated. Simulation results indicate that the ~(10)B doped nMCP can provide a sufficiently high detection efficiency and spatial resolution for 0.025eV thermal neutron detection. The efficiency of the nMCP increases with its thickness along with bias angle as a contributing factor. The spatial resolution of the no biased nMCP is decided by its channel diameter while the spatial resolution of the biased nMCP is determined by its thickness, channel diameter and bias angle. When the thickness of the nMCP is 1mm, a detection efficiency of 16% with a spatial resolution of 35 μm can be achieved when the channel diameter of the 2° biased nMCP is 30 μm and its channel wall thickness is 2 μm.
