A US $400m decommissioning plan for the Chinguetti FPSO project off Mauritania will be submitted to the government shortly with the project now making a significant loss and production to stop before the end of the year. The deepwater discovery was trumpeted as opening up a whole new region back in 2001 but a series of nearby finds were deemed uncommercial and the field itself was plagued by production problems due to geological issues since first oil in 2006.
