Minimizing gaps in the HIV care continuum is crucial as people living with HIV (PLHIV) on antiretroviral treatment (ART) have reduced risks of secondary transmission and disease progression (Cescon et al., 2015; Gardner, McLees, Steiner, Del Rio, 8c Burman, 2011). Such gaps can be identified by examining the HIV treatment cascade, a model outlining the proportion of PLHIV at each stage of the HIV care continuum from diagnosis to viral suppression (Gardner et al., 2011).
