Ocean Rig gets drillship for tenth of cost

The turmoil in the rig market had a price put on it earlier this week when Ocean Rig bought a five year old drillship for less than a tenth of its original cost. The 6th generation ultra-deepwater drillship Cerrado was sold at auction for US $65m after previous owner, Brazil's Schahin, went into bankruptcy. The drillship was built at Samsung Heavy Industries in 2011 for US $682m and will be re- named the Ocean Rig Paws.
