BG halts Egypt deep project as sales negotiations fail

BG has halted the latest stage of its West Delta Deep Marine (WDDM) development offshore Egypt after negotiations with the government over gas prices broke down. While BP and Eni are investing billions of dollars in new deepwater projects off the country, BG has had a fiery relationship with the government in recent years and only confirmed new investment after some of its major arrears were paid back. However, the Shell subsidiary has halted work on WDDM 9B and stopped development wells using a Saipem drillship after new negotiations broke down.
