Anadarko approaching Cote d'lvoire pipeline plan

Anadarko hopes to be able to move to development planning for its Paon discovery off Cote d'lvoire when the current appraisal well finishes, even before two extra exploration wells that will immediately follow. The Bolette Dolphin is now drilling the Paon-3A horizontal sidetrack in the far west of the field in CI-103 and this will be followed by a drill stem test and interference programme. The drillship recently completed a successful Paon-5A appraisal well which encountered nearly 100ft (30m) of net pay and was also a horizontal sidetrack to test conductivity of reservoir (see AOG 12 May). Two exploration wells will be drilled on nearby blocks immediately after but Anadarko is hoping it will be able to move to development planning without these. "Through the appraisal and drill stem test we believe we will begin to gain the knowledge necessary to move towards a plan of development," said chief financial officer Bob Gwin.
