Several of the world's biggest oil companies plus a series of governments including Angola, Cameroon, Gabon and the Republic of Congo have banned gas flaring on new projects and committed to end the practice by 2030. The "Zero Routine Flaring by 2030" initiative was launched by The United Nations and World Bank Group.
