SBM believes that the market for FPSOs has halved over the last three months and is closely investigating standardisation that could be a way of significantly cutting costs. Last year a total of 10 FPSO contracts were awarded and three months ago SBM thought the figure for this year would be 12. Last week it said it now only sees six FPSOs as being awarded in 2015 "and even that is without a great level of certainty." Out of this six it is chasing only one but declined to confirm that this is Cobalt's Cameia in Block 21 off Angola.
