Africa Oil's plans for proving up enough gas reserves for a power station in Kenya have taken a hit following a failed appraisal well. The company had been looking at a gas to power project for the Sala discovery in Block 9 in the north of the country. The initial exploration well was only drilled earlier this year (see AOG 3 July) but Africa Oil was excited enough to start talking about the project and immediately drill the appraisal well.
