Noble Energy is drilling ahead on its third wildcat on a block offshore Cameroon, hoping the shallows will prove more fruitful than two previous deepwater targets. Paragon Offshore's Noble Percy Johns jack-up started work earlier this month on the Cheetah well in the Tilapia block. Cheetah is a four-way structure and is Noble's first Cretaceous oil target in Cameroon. The primary risk is reservoir quality. The 3,875sq km block is in the Douala basin in water depths ranging from the shoreline to 3,610ft (1100m).
