Objectives: More than half of cases of gastric cancer (GC) are diagnosed in elderly patients (>= 70 years). While doublet combination with fluoropyrimidines and platinum is currently considered standard first-line chemotherapy in advanced GC, the main goal of chemotherapy remains palliation.
